In the following circuit does D1 protect the voltage source when it's switched on and D2 protect it when it's switched off? I'm a little bit confused, because in circuits with inductors that I've seen only D2 is present. I understand that an inductive load produces EMF when current changes. What if the speed of the motor suddenly changes when its mechanical load is changed?
