I have been agonising over this question for a number of days, and I cannot come up with a simple answer.
I have some (nominal) 48 V, 15 kW (16S) battery packs that obviously need charging. I purchased some “smart chargers” that detect the voltage of the pack before they turn on and start charging at 58.4 V @ 20 A, AND they are potted (so no tinkering). I have set up an ESP32 to read the Enphase gateway to determine when I am exporting, and up to 4 chargers are energised through DIN rail contactors to reduce the solar export bit by bit by turning on the chargers one at a time.
The problem is that I don't want to charge the LiFePo4 cells to 3.65 V (58.4 V) and thought a high power diode in series would work to reduce the voltage reaching the packs by “If”. The problem is that the chargers don't “see” any voltage because of the diodes, and therefore don't start. Is there a circuit anybody can conjure up that fixes this.
I was thinking of this diode Mouser No:844-70HF10 Mfr. No:VS-70HF10 Mfr.:Vishay
Thanks in advance.
